A very warm welcome to Burnside Primary School.

Burnside Primary School first opened in 1869. Since that time, the school has gained a strong reputation and developed a proud history of providing quality teaching and learning to all students. In 2019 we celebrated 150 years of outstanding education at the school.

Our school provides an excellent learning environment for students where they can exceed in all learning areas and develop the skills required to be successful global citizens. Our school values of ‘Respect, Quality Teaching and Learning and Cooperation’ work alongside our vision ‘to create intellectually stretched, self-directed and powerful learners’.
These core elements of the school drive our work to support all students to achieve their personal best within a learning environment which is challenging, supportive and engaging.

An inquiry pedagogy approach is used to deliver the eight learning areas as outlined within the Australian Curriculum. Along with this, the General Capabilities within the Australian Curriculum equip our students with skills to live and work successfully in the twenty-first century.

A wide range of opportunities for additional curricular are also offered ie: Debating, Sport SA, Junior Primary Choir, DfE Instrumental Music Program, Festival of Music Choir, School Musicals, Rock Crew Band, School of Languages, Chess, Coding, Art and After School Sport are offered. These opportunities enable students to develop specific skills and talents and experience individual success.

The partnership with parents is an important aspect of our school. Parents are welcome to volunteer throughout the school by participating in excursions and camps, sports coaching, volunteering in the canteen, classrooms, library or joining the Parent and Friends or Governing Council and associated sub committees.

I look forward to the opportunity to share our school with you on a Principal tour. We have regular tours throughout the year, dates are available and bookings can be made via this website. I look forward to meeting you in the near future.
