AFTER SCHOOL SPORT

Burnside Primary School (BPS) offers an extensive After School Sports Program to enhance a student’s schooling experience. Our school encourages students to become physically active and participate in After School Sports. Students are able to develop relationships with classmates and peers as well as skills and attributes such as team work, self-confidence and leadership.

As a community we adhere to our school values of: Quality teaching and learning, cooperation and respect.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENTS

Sports fees are a compulsory requirement of the after-school sports registration process. Fees will vary between sports and may differ again if the sport is played across one or two terms.

Payments are only accepted through ‘Qkr!’ and must be paid to validate your child’s registration for sports teams. A payment is required for each sport your child has nominated for.

We encourage parents to talk to their child first about which sport they would like to register in, before making a payment/registration.

A uniform deposit is also required to be paid on ‘Qkr!’ if your child requires a uniform for their nominated sport. This deposit is held until the sports uniform is returned to the school and monies are then either credited to your school account or refunded.

IMPORTANT
Please be aware of the registration due dates mentioned in the Sports Nominations Edsmart emails that are sent calling for nominations.

Notification emails for sports nominations will be sent at the start of the relevant term.

Late registrations may not be accepted as a position on a team cannot be guaranteed due to team numbers required and registrations received prior to nominations closing. Late registrations will also incur a late fee.

COACHING/TEAM MANAGERS

All after school sports teams are coached by parent volunteers. If you have skills or an interest in coaching, please consider nominating to coach your child’s team when completing their registration form

Teams also require a team manager to manage the administrative requirements of the team eg communicating changes to fixtures.

Without parents filling these volunteer roles above, it may mean that a team is unable to go ahead despite having enough players for the team.

COMMITMENT

Once a child has registered for a team they are expected to be committed to that team for the entire season of play (extenuating circumstances excepted)

Whilst not always possible eg due to illness, at a minimum this commitment refers to one game and one training session per week

Training times are dependent on the coach and gym availability.

Prior to the start of the season, information will be sent to parents re teams, training and games. Any changes throughout the season will then be communicated to you through by either the team manager or the Sports Administrator.
